SPOKE / YouthSPEAK program

Audio Chemists has established a partnership with SPOKE Art since the fall of 2022. SPOKE believes in the transformative power of art as a vehicle for healing divisions, strengthening community, and creative self-expression. This is a mission that our team at Audio Chemists shares.

Together, we have been working on implementing the Youth Speak program which has been funded by the MA Department of Public Health Bureau of Substance Abuse Services and Boston Housing Authority. This multi-year program aims to utilize art as a tool for self-reflection, and exploration of social issues impacting youth (including racism, sexuality/gender, HIV, stigma, and housing) as markers of potential substance use. Since the beginning of the partnership, we have been meeting with different cohorts of youth to lead a curriculum focused on audio and video production, animation, and using design for fashion activism with the aim that youth could apply this knowledge in their projects, and beyond the program as they explore their career paths.

Breaktime

Audio Chemists has also been partnering with Breaktime, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit working to break the cycle of young adult homelessness. Through transitional employment and financial empowerment, Breaktime works to break down barriers to job security, financial security, and–ultimately–housing security for our Associates.

Audio Chemists has partnered with multiple young adults through the program that express an interest in audio and video production, providing a platform to learn more about the field and gain job experience.
